How will the new Rail Corridor adds to the capital appreciation?

We have heard about the new addition of The Rail Corridor in the pipeline for upcoming Bukit Timah’s transformation. But do you have any idea what this is and how it is going to impact you?

The Rail Corridor:

F​ormerly known as the Bukit Timah Railway Station, was gazetted as a conserved building on 27 May 2011 and it is often frequented by railway, heritage and photography enthusiasts.

When the Rail Corridor is connected by 2021, it will spur the development of surrounding lands and rejuvenate the older districts, passing through the Queenstown area & home to Singapore’s first satellite town.

The new Rail Corridor will present opportunities to activate the space and bring communities closer to the Corridor. Connecting New Gateways into Nature & Heritage Attractions, t​the buildings will showcase their original railway features, while being repurposed for the public’s use and enjoyment.

Let’s walk through briefly some of the development in place:

1. Set to establish as a northern hub for new jobs and opportunities:

Rail Corridor, expected to be completed by 2021, will run through the future Woodlands North Coast and Greater Southern Waterfront areas that encourage more business activities and higher transport connectivity.

2. Connecting new Gateways into Nature & Heritage Attractions:

The completion of the Coast-to-Coast trail, Rifle Range Nature Park and the Rail Corridor will spur rejuvenation of the former Bukit Timah Fire Station and Beauty World as gateways into the surrounding nature and heritage attractions.

The whole transformation is guided by three key themes: Heritage and Culture, Biodiversity and Greenery, and Recreation. The conserved Bukit Timah Railway Station will be a distinctive landmark of Rail Corridor (Central) and the community node will feature a strong sense of history, distinctive landscaping and ample public spaces.
